Flowering of Euphorbia pulcherrima Willd. ex Klotzsch var Valenciana under blue and red LED light

Objective: To determine the effect of blue light (BL) and red (RL), applied five hours at end day (AED) that temperature, on flowering Euphorbia pulcherrima var Valenciana. Design/Methodology/Approach: Three groups plants were established under greenhouse conditions, all received sunlight (SL), AED one was BL (460 nm) another RL (660 with a photosynthetically active photon flux 440 µmol m-2 s-1 550 respectively; from beginning experiment until 144 d later. In second cycle, residual effects treatments evaluated. Results: first appearance cyathia bract pigmentation occurred average 177.5 after initiation treatments, 178 d. Compared to application SL alone (138 d) process delayed, 39 40 d, RL, respectively. No recorded. Limitations study/implications: It is necessary evaluate other levels temperature below above ones reported in this study, also increase decrease photoperiod.
